Committees
STANDING COMMITTEE DESCRIPTIONS
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE: The Executive Committee shall be comprised of all elected officers of the RBBA, and all other persons the President may deem necessary or desirable.
NOMINATING COMMITTEE: Appointed by the President, shall prepare a list of nominees from which Officers may be elected at each Annual Meeting. The Nominating Committee shall present names of persons nominated for office to the membership no later than three weeks prior to the Annual Meeting. Nominations from the floor at the Annual Meeting may be made.
PROGRAMS COMMITTEE: This committee is responsible for implementing our community programs. This committee is also responsible for implementing programs for the membership. Level of Commitment —Moderate. Chair - Vice-President of Programs, Aaron Frazier, Esq.
MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE: This committee is responsible for implementing programs for the membership. In addition, this committee sends out membership renewal invoices, Level of Commitment —Moderate. Chair - Vice-President of Membership, Odette J. Belton, Esq.
NEWSLETTER COMMITTEE: Prepares newsletter for dissemination to the general body.
ADVISORY COMMITTEE: Advisory Committee is a group of volunteers, appointed by the President that meets regularly on a long-term basis to provide advice and/or support with a host of important functions: strengthening programs, reviewing and evaluating mission, programs, and services, recruiting, raising funds, promoting public relations, and improving relationships with other organizations.
AD HOC COMMITTEE DESCRIPTIONS
AWARDS & SCHOLARSHIP/20TH ANNIVERSARY DINNER COMMITTEE: This committee is responsible for organizing our Signature Event the Awards & Scholarship Dinner. The RBBA will celebrate it’s 20th Anniversary. This committee is very rewarding you will interact act with the community. Level of commitment — high for a limited amount of time. Chairs - Shani Curry, Esq. and Duwaine Bascoe, Esq.
JUDICIAL REVIEW COMMITTEE: This committee is responsible for evaluating judicial candidates. This committee works with bar members as well as community leaders to evaluate the candidates. Level of commitment —moderate for a limited amount of time. Chair - Sara Valencia, Esq.
BRIDGES TO SUCCESS COMMITTEE: This committee is responsible for organizing this annual networking event which brings together members of the local bench and bar. Level of commitment – moderate for a limited amount of time. Chair - Jennifer Wright, Esq.
SOCIAL COMMITTEE: This committee is responsible for organizing periodic functions/events/outings for the RBBA membership. Level of commitment – moderate for a limited amount of time. Chair - Shani Curry, Esq.
BY-LAWS COMMITTEE: This committee is responsible for the development of the RBBA’s by-laws and serves as a resource to the membership on questions relating to the by-laws and parliamentary procedure. Level of commitment – moderate for a limited amount of time. Chair - Destini K. Bowman, Esq.
COMMUNITY RELATIONS COMMITTEE: This committee is responsible for cultivating community relationships and developing programs/strategies to increase the RBBA’s community outreach. Level of commitment – moderate for a limited amount of time.
